Not Nineteen Forever (11th June 2019)

Well, rain was never going to stop play at Stretford Uke, on this rather soggy Tuesday June evening. There was a great turnout for our nineteenth jam, despite the weather.

The songlist for the first session has been mostly the same for a few weeks now, giving us chance to practice some of the new songs, like I’m Yours, Riptide and River Deep Mountain High.

We’re definitely getting better on the new songs each week we do them. Some of the words are still a bit tricky though, especially I’m Yours! For some of the older songs in the songlist, we’re old hands at now. So maybe time for a bit of a shuffle? šŸ™‚

In the second session, we tackled some old favourites likeĀ Bad Moon Rising,Ā Big Yellow Taxi,Ā Billy O’Shea, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Space Oddity.

We also tackled quite a lesser played songs like Brimful of Asha, Build Me Up Buttercup, Cecilia, Chains, Creep, Days, Dreams, Faith, Forget You, Friday I’m In Love, Harvest Moon, La Bamba / Twist and Shout, Livinā€™ On A Prayer, Rehab and What’s Up. Some of these were for the first time, and I reckon we did pretty well!

Hope to see you again next week! As ever, if you have any feedback or requests for the songbook or songlist, then please doĀ get in touch!
